Landscape Maintenance in Marana, Oro Valley, and Tucson

Our sister company, Arizona Landscape Maintenance, provides ongoing care for landscape construction customers and new maintenance customers throughout the Tucson, Marana, Oro Valley and neighboring communities.

When service begins, the maintenance manager will assign a service day and crew. That same crew will arrive on the day and time scheduled, except for holidays and weather delays. Your crew leader is experienced, easy to communicate with, and will follow your specific instructions, if you have any. If you are not home or do not have specific requests, the crew will maintain your yard as specified in the maintenance agreement. Our maintenance manager and crew leaders speak English and have extensive desert plant, irrigation, and lighting experience.

Additional services include landscape design with a professional designer, plant replacements, landscape enhancements (plants, patios, walls, fences, gates, kitchens, fire features, driveways and paths, boulders, screened rock, irrigation repair and replacement of irrigation systems, lighting repair and replacement of fixtures or troubleshooting entire systems.

Pruning & Plant Health

Pruning enhances plant health by removing dead, diseased, or damaged tissue, which improves air circulation, sunlight penetration, and reduces pest/disease risks. It encourages stronger structure, stimulates new, vigorous growth, and directs resources to productive areas. Proper pruning typically removes no more than 1/3 of the plant, focusing on weak parts of the plant. Our crews typically “hand prune” but will use a mechanical trimmer for those that prefer that style.

Irrigation Systems - Monitoring

Irrigation system monitoring involves using sensors, flow meters, and smart controllers to track watering times, water use, and seasonal settings in real-time. These systems automate irrigation, detect leaks, and provide remote alerts via mobile apps, helping to conserve water, save energy, and protect landscapes from damage. Whether you have a smart or standard controller, your assigned crew will check the irrigation controller for functionality and proper programming. We also inspect the valves and the valve diaphragm. Drip emitters are regularly inspected while the irrigation system is turned on – at each plant – to make sure all plants are receiving water and that there are no visible leaks. Small leaks can all be fixed while the crew is on site

Turf Care - Natural Grass

Turf care in Arizona requires specific, seasonally adjusted strategies for maintaining Bermuda grass. Key tasks include proper watering settings during summer, routine aeration, and managing overseeding with winter Rye grass. Mowing, edging, dethatching, aerating, and overseeding can be completed by your assigned crew.

Turf Care - Artificial Grass

Artificial grass requires limited maintenance including regular debris removal (blow off leaf and other debris), rinsing, and brushing. We can provide power brushing, infill and odor control for pet areas at your request.

Fertilization

All shrubs are fertilized as part of our regular maintenance services.

Night Lighting

We provide maintenance and repair service for existing residential outdoor light systems, LED, and halogen bulb replacements to ensure safety, efficiency and aesthetic appeal. Lighting transformers are programmed according to your preferences. We can also add light fixtures to an existing system or design and install a new outdoor lighting system.

Pre-Emergent

Your crew will apply a granular pre-emergent in June and December, which is designed to kill weeds as they germinate. This pre-emergent process should reduce weed growth by about 80%, and last 4 to 6 months, allowing your landscape maintenance crew to spend more time maintaining plant health, irrigation systems, and routine yard cleanup.

Weeds

Pre-emergent does not kill existing weeds, so your crew still needs to remove weeds as they grow. Your crew will pull or hula-ho larger weeds and spray smaller weeks with RoundUp Pro, unless you prefer this product not be used.

Seasonal Cleanups

As needed, additional time can be scheduled for our residential landscape maintenanceclients for pre-monsoon preparation, post-storm recovery, fall cutbacks, frostprotection, and additional enhancement work.

Seasonal and Additional Service

Additional service time can be scheduled by request, or the regular visit time can be increased at your discretion. Additional time is most often needed during the peak growing season or to clean up storm damage. We can also schedule service for special events, and can often be there the day before.

Scheduling

We offer weekly service (52-visits per year), bi-weekly service (26-visits peryear) and service every 4-week period (13-visits per year) for residential properties.

Visit Length

We build a plan around your property size, personal requests, priorities and HOA requirements. A typical maintenance visit is 1-hour with a 3-man crew every two-week period. This time can be shorter or longer based on property size and Owner requirements.

Quality Control

The maintenance manager prepares a Specification Sheet for each property which lists the Owners priorities and all of the services provided. When the crew arrives, they are available to work at your direction or follow the Specification Sheet to ensure your priorities are met. While there, the crew leader will inspect the property and look for issues that need to be addressed promptly, like irrigation leaks.

Communication

Communication is simple and essential and improves overall service. Please let us know what we are doing well or where we can improve. Requests for service can be emailed to the office, you may call the maintenance manager, or give instructions directly to the crew leader.

Our Maintenance Process

We have provided landscape maintenance service for residential properties located in the Catalina Foothills, Marana, and OroValley for 25 years. When contacted, we will send a maintenance manager to inspect your property and, in most cases, we can provide a written maintenance proposal within 24-hours. Once a maintenance proposal is accepted, a service day and time is selected in cooperation with the homeowner.

Written Proposal

The written proposal will include the cost for regular maintenance and pre-emergent application. It will include the initial service date and time, the frequency and length of service, and name of your crew leader. The proposal will include a "draft" customer specification sheet that can be modified with the manager or crew leader at anytime.

Irrigation Leaks

Small irrigation leaks can be repaired by your crew during the regular visit time. More extensive repairs can be scheduled by the maintenance manager who will send an irrigation technician with the proper equipment and parts.

Plant Replacements and Enhancements

we can replace dead plants and install landscape enhancements at your request. You will receive a written cost proposal listing the scope of work and the number and sizes of plants being replaced or added. For larger enhancement projects we will schedule a time to meet with a Garden Gate landscape designer and prepare a custom landscape design.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a landscape design cost?

Designconsultations are free. Pool designs—and pool designs that include landscape—aretypically free. Stand-alone landscape designs may incur a nominal design feebased on scope. While landscape design fees can catch clients off guard, theyare critical to making sure the plan is buildable, bid properly, and that the crewsknow what to install. These highly detailed plans are also used for permitting, engineering (when required), and HOA and DRC submittals.

Can you help with pool and spa designs?

Yes— we specialize in turnkey landscape and pool design-build, with one point ofcontact for design and one for construction. Our team integrates pools, spas, and patios into a cohesive plan that looks intentional. Planning the entireproject from the beginning makes sure nothing is overlooked, installation isdone in the most efficient sequence, and, if the project is phased, rework islimited.

How long does the design process take?

Landscapedesigns typically take 2–4 weeks; pool designs can be completed in about fivebusiness days. While most people view the pool as the more complicated element, the detail in the landscape plan is what ties the entire project togethercohesively, and why it takes more time.

What happens if I want to make a revision?

Revisions are a normal part of the design process. Many times, what sounds good in conversation has a much different feel on paper. This is why the design process is so important to a successful project.
